I have noticed that many magic tricks that you purchase today comes with a DVD that not only explains the trick, but also tells you how to construct the gimmick. The advantages of this is that it keeps the cost of the effect lower. This is a good thing, but does the quality of the magic trick suffer when you make the gimmick and not a professional. Some magicians are naturally good at making gimmicks, but some are not. When you are finished, the gimmick does not always look like the one on the DVD. This can ruin the trick. I personally would like to purchase the trick with the difficult gimmicks already made and pay a little more for the trick. The peace of mind that the gimmick looks good and will work is worth the few extra dollars.
